CASSIN'S TWO GOALS WAS NOT ENOUGH IN DC LOSS
11/30/09

DC Police forward Ed Cassins two goal effort was just not enough to fend off the NCR Eagles in the second annual Toys for Tots game. The game, which featured three twenty minute periods was a major concern for the DC Police coming into the game. This game was fifteen minutes longer than were used to playing stated Assistant Captain Paul Regan. The penalty hurt and they out worked us in the end.

The game was a very tight contest until late in the third period when the Eagles took advantage of a late DC penalty and scored two goals only 15 seconds apart. DC pulled their goaltender with two minutes remaining to no avail.

The event raised over $700 dollars in donations and over $300 in toys.

Nevertheless, Mercier rejoins the team this Sunday as they will skate in their first game of the 2009-10 season. "Todd is a great help out there on the defensive side" stated team captain Joe Diliberto. He will definitely give us a boost at the blue line.

Mercier will replace Tom Webb who has been listed as a healthy scratch and reportedly is in the dog house with team management. Admission to the game will be $10 or a new unwrapped toy. Please come on out, cheer on your DC Police and help a great cause.

CAPTAIN NOT CALLING IT QUITS JUST YET
11/13/09

DC Police team captain Joe Diliberto has been leading this DC crime fighting team on ice longer than I can remember. At last seasons end, rumors began to circulate about the long time captain stepping down. He has been very low key this season but appears to be lately putting things together for yet another season.

In finally catching up with the captain, we had to ask? Is it over? He grinned and replied, I'll know when it is and I'll let you all know. Anyways, I guess the real answer is a NO because he will be leading his team into battle starting on the road on November 29, 2009 in the annual Toys for Tots game.

Veteran team mates like Brett Parson, Paul Regan and Tom Webb all will be continuing as well.

REGAN PROMOTED TO ASSISTANT CAPTAIN FOR THE 2009-2010 SEASON
11/13/09

DC Police veteran Paul Regan will be wearing the (A) this year for the DC Police hockey team. "Paul was contacted yesterday and given the news" stated team captain Joe Diliberto. He was excited and stated that he was ready to help lead. Paul has been with the team since its inception and deserves the spot.

Regan will be announced as an assistant captain in the teams first road game of the season on November 29, 2009 against the National Capital Region Military Team.

CASSIN'S TWO GOALS, THREE ASSISTS LIFTS DC TO VICTORY OVER AC
4/4/09

DC's Ed Cassin was finally in the lineup against the AC Guns and Hoses today in game two of the season series in Atlantic City. Cassin, along with line mates Ryan Goins and Jeff Lange were plus 4 in the game as a unit. Our first line was finally all together against AC for once and it paid off, stated team captain/coach Joe Diliberto.

DC came out of the gate firing as Cassin scored the first two goals of the game and assisted on a third as he found Tom Webb in the slot for the one timer. AC later answered in the third period scoring three consecutive goals and tied the contest at 3. Ryan Goins immediately put DC up again as he was assisted by Cassin and Jim Ellis but very quickly AC answered once again tying it up at 4 with little time remaining.

With 1:36 left in the third period, Jeff Lange received yet another Cassin pass and scored putting the game away by the final of 5-4. DC Goaltender Erik Fossum had another outstanding performance turning away numerous AC scoring attempts even into the final minute.

The Game's Triad Interactive Three Stars Selection:

* Ed Cassin (2g, 3a)

** Erik Fossum (G)

*** Jeff Lange (1g, 1a)

PARSON SCORES FIRST EVER HAT TRICK IN DC WIN
3/7/09

DC's Brett Parson scored three times to help the DC Police defeat the Bayonne New Jersey Police Department by the final score of 10-2.

Parson, who was celebrating his 42nd birthday, was never known as a goal scorer slash enforcer until now. DC's Ed Cassin also recorded three tallies in the game as well.

Bayonne played the game with an extremely short bench. It didn't take long until the skeleton lineup took its toll on the club. Give em credit, they fought hard the entire contest.

DC will travel to Atlantic City New Jersey on Saturday April 4th for game two of the home and home series with the Atlantic City Guns & Hoses.

GOINS SCORES FOUR IN DC WIN
3/3/09

DC’s Ryan Goins lit the lamp four times for the DC Police Hockey team as he propelled the club to a 5-2 victory on Sunday morning against the Washington, DC United States Coast Guard team. Goins as well as goaltender Erik Fossum were the teams first and second stars in the game. A late goal by Kevin Doherty ended the scoring and locked up the victory.

SQUIGS ANGERED, MULLS THOUGHTS OF COME BACK
3/3/09

Former USSS forward Mark “Squigs” Frantzen who retired from the USSS team last season, is rumored to be entertaining the thoughts of a come back. The come back attempt has stemmed from a move USSS coach Ron Rockefeller made in his last road game against the DC Police.

Rockefeller informed Frantzen and dressed one of his newest players in Frantzen’s #83 USSS jersey. The number 83 had been officially been retired by the USSS team during the 2007-08 season at an annual benefit game in front of a capacity crowd. Sources say that Frantzen was furious of the move and is now mulling to return to the game.

The DC Police Hockey Foundation has since obtained an on going e-mail communication between USSS team managers containing numerous offers they would entertain for Frantzen’s services. All of the offers were for little to no compensation. It’s unknown how long the USSS have the rights to Frantzen.

It’s clear that Frantzen has ties to the DC Police team and may be considering a change of scenery. Would DC’s finely tuned team have a roster spot for Frantzen? "Squigs has always has been a fan favorite and the people love him," stated DC team captain Joe Diliberto. You know, he definitely could increase our draw and fan base, it would be just like when the circus comes to town.

Sources state that DC has not made a formal offer to the USSS for Frantzen’s rights.

DC TOPS USSS 6-2
3/1/09

DC Police goaltender Erik Fossum was dehydrated from a week long battle with the flu but one would never have known. Fossum was stellar and obviously back to his old form as he turned away numerous Secret Service scoring opportunities and led his team to victory.

The team played well as a whole unit. All lines produced and everyone skated their tails off stated team captain Joe Diliberto. Things became a little chippy late in the game when DC’s Steve Solomon collided with a USSS player at center ice. Solomon sustained an upper body injury that sent him to the locker room and hospital for evaluation.

DC’s Brett Parson was penalized and tossed late in the game. Parson was cited for roughing, boarding and received a ten minute game misconduct.

FOSSUM AWSOME IN FBI SWEEP
2/20/09

DC Police goaltender Erik Fossum put on a show tonight as he made incredible save after save stopping 28 of 30 FBI shots on goal. After falling behind 2-0 early in the game, Fossum closed the door and played a perfect second and third period leading his team to victory.

DC's rookie forward TJ Masengale also made his presence known as he recorded his first hat trick of the season. Other game notables were Jim Ellis (1G 1A), Chris Donaldson (1G 1A), Tom Webb (1G 1A), Ed Cassin (1G 1A), Kev Doherty (1G) and Jeff Lange (1G). DC has once again swept the season series with the FBI.

FBI's team captain Mark Reeser stated that he blames several no shows in his line up for the loss.

REESER AND THE BUREAU TO GRACE FORT DUPONT TONIGHT
2/20/09

FBI Team Captain Mark Reeser and his team will visit the Fort Dupont Ice Arena this evening at 7:30pm for game two of the DC season series. Reeser has announced that the once dangerous Buffalo native Chris Baylor has returned to the team after a two year retirement. Reeser states that Baylor will be active in tonight's contest.

DC returns tonight to home ice and will look to sweep the season series once again over the Feds. Admission is free so come out and support your DC Police Hockey Team.

CAPTAIN IS CLUTCH IN BAYONNE
2/7/09

DC's team captain Joe Diliberto silenced a near capacity Bayonne New Jersey Crowd at Korpi Arena on Saturday night as DC held on to win the game by the final of 8-7. The game was played to benefit a fellow Bayonne officer suffering from serious illness.

DC had opened up a 6-2 lead by second periods end with goals by Ryan Goins, Ed Cassin, Chris Baboulis and Steve Solomon. At the start of the third period, DC began to run out of steam due to a short bench. Bayonne PD took advantage, changed goaltenders and launched a great come back cutting the deficit down. Bayonne tied the game in dramatic fashion on a slap shot that sailed over goaltender Erik Fossum's shoulder with 17 seconds remaining in the contest.

Tied the end of regulation, the game went to a shoot out and both goaltenders stopped both teams first three shooters. Bayonne's fourth shooter scored on goaltender Erik Fossum to take the lead in the shootout. DC's next shooter, Steve Solomon had score score to keep the shootout alive and did just that.

The teams headed to the fifth round of the shootout when DC's Ed Cassin demanded that the DC Captain, Joe Diliberto, call his own number. Diliberto accepted the challenge drove in on the Bayonne goaltender, gave a head fake and let a wrist shot go beating the Bayonne goaltender five hole silencing the home crowd.

The game was now up to DC's goaltender Erik Fossum to make the final save to preserve the victory. Fossum came through and closed the door on Bayonne's final shooter. DC escapes winning by the final 8-7.

Bayonne P.D. will be in DC for the much anticipated rematch on March 7th.

Bayonne will visit DC in March.

AC GUNS AND HOSES TO PLAY DC THIS SATURDAY AT FORT DUPONT
1/1/09

The Atlantic City Guns & Hoses will make their 08-09 season appearance to Washington, DC this Saturday as they will take on the DC Police in game one of there yearly two game home and home series. DC was scheduled to travel to Atlantic City for game two of the series on January 11, 2009 but the game had to be cancelled and rescheduled do to the upcoming presidential inauguration festivities.

The past few seasons AC has owned DC at home and away. I believe you would have to go back to the 04-05 season when DC was able to last squeak out a victory in AC. That was under the AC leadership of Chuckie " I've got triplets" Lebarre back then. Lebarre has since been ousted and replaced with Nick "Snow Board" Rando. DC has not recorded a win under Rando's reign.

This first contest of the two clubs this season already has DC behind the eight ball as a few of the clubs top producers will be missing in action. This gives the rest of the guys a chance to step up and increase their individual roles stated one DC player. The club is not yet identifying which players will be missing but the team still claims to have a good chance to break the streak and win on home ice.

A bright note of sort, DC goaltender Erik Fossum, who missed the last game for personal reasons, will be returning between the pipes to face AC. The team has also activated right winger Paul Regan for the contest. This is Regan's second consecutive start for the team this season.

DC TO OPEN 08-09 SEASON AT KETTLER AGAINST FBI
9/3/08

The DC Police Hockey team will open its 2008-09 season on the road as they will face the FBI at the Kettler Capitals Iceplex Arena in Arlington, Virginia. The FBI Agents Association Hockey Team will be playing this game to raise money for FBI Special Agent Wesley Yoo.

Wes has been diagnosed with a cancer which there currently is no cure for.  He has been with the FBI since 1995.  In 2000, Wes Graduated the FBI Academy and became a Special Agent.  Wes was assigned to the Washington Field Office, and shortly after arriving at the Washington Field Office he was assigned to the AMERITHRAX Investigation in 2001.  Wes served on this squad until his health issues made it impossible for him to continue.  Wes lives in Northern Virginia with his wife and two young children.

A point of contact at the Washington Field Office for donations is Special Agent Thomas F. O'Connor, FBI Agents Association.

BAYONNE PD VISITS DC THIS SATURDAY
2/24/08

The Bayonne PD will be heading to DC this weekend for the second meeting of the season with the DC Police. Bayonne has struggled so far this season starting out to an 0-4 start according to their team web site.

Bayonne jumped out to an early lead in the teams first meeting but lost after DC battled back late prevailing 5-2 on the road.

The two teams match up well and this should be a good contest. DC is coming off of a road loss to AC last weekend and is looking to rebound. The puck drops at 6:00pm on Saturday March 1, 2008 at Fort Dupont Ice Arena. Admission is always free so don't miss the action.

NO WIN SITUATION AGAIN IN AC, 4-1 LOSS
2/18/08

The DC Police Hockey team recorded its second loss of the season yesterday by losing to the Atlantic City Guns and Hoses by the final score of 4-1. The team fought hard throughout the game even with an unforeseen shortened bench.

DC defensman Ed Cassin was hospitalized Saturday evening with flu like symptoms. Tom Webb and Chris Baboulis also spent the week battling the flu but they did make the trip.

DC was behind after the second period by only 3-1 after Ryan Goins scored late on a break away. The close score was mainly due to the stellar play of DC goaltender Erik Fossum. Fossum kept his team in the game by making amazing save after save. Fossum faced 45 plus shots in the contest as he frustrated the AC attack. AC tallied with less than a minute remaining by scoring on the DC empty net after Fossum was pulled for the extra attacker.

The two teams will meet again on March 8th in DC. AC has defeated DC in the last three meetings.

BPD tied the game at 13:03 when BPD's Tom Ryan handcuffed DC goaltender Erik Fossum and beat him on the short side for the tying tally.

DC battled right back as Nick Masengale and Steve Solomon scored which was followed by two additional goals from Ryan Goins that concluded the second period. BPD had a late flurry scoring three times late narrowing the gap but DC once again answered scoring two more times in the third ending the game with a 7-4 victory.

The team and foundation would like to give a special thanks to Debbie Brown of Meals on Wheels and Kurt Roepcke (from BPD) for the invite and opportunity to play for such a good cause. The team would also like to thank DC Police Assistant Chief Joshua Ederheimer for his support.

With this years team currently short in the goaltending position, Dr. Roberts volunteered his services and really contributed in team practices over the past few weeks. Roberts has come up with some dazzling saves during scrimmages, stated one player.

The team has recently also been contacted by DC Police officer Nathan Butler about a possible return to the roster as well. Butler, who has had some starts for the team over the past years, has indicated through e-mail that he would like to put the pads back on. Butler is currently a pilot and flying for the departments Helicopter Branch. We'll keep an eye out for a Butler return to practice.

1/18/08

DC Goaltender Erik Fossum put on a clinic and turned away 42 of 44 shots as he helped his club defeat the US Coast Guard tonight by the final score of 6-2. Down 1-0 early in the game, DC's Ed Cassin let a laser beam shot go from the point that beat the USCG goaltender clean. Then, late in the second period, Ryan Goins scored one of his two goals of the evening on the DC power play. From that point on, the club never looked back as Fossum closed the door and three more goals were scored. Additional scores came from Jeff Lange, Robert Beard and Kevin Doherty.

DC DOMINATES IN HOME OPENER
10/27/07

The DC Police Hockey Team opened up the 2007-08 campaign at home last night as they faced the FBI Agents Association of Washington. The ice seemed to be tilted DC's way as they opened up the goal scoring and never looked back. The combination of a relentless offensive assault and outstanding goaltending by returning goaltender Erik Fossum resulted in a home opening win of 11-1.

Forward Steve Solomon, who skated on the teams top line in place of the departed Derrick Graham, scored three times in the contest. Forward Ryan Goins also had a three goal evening. Goaltender Erik Fossum was stellar as he stopped 24 of 25 shots faced.

REGAN GIVES UP HIS NUMBER 36 TO GOALTENDER
9/20/07

Sources say that DC foward Paul Regan has agreed to relinquish his jersey number 36 to goaltender Eric Fossum for the 07-08 season. Fossum, Whom admittedly stated that he had wanted that particular number since joining the club last season, was hoping a Regan retirement was forthcoming and figured he would wait for it.

Paul Regan # ?

Regan, who missed most of last season for unknown reasons, was called up at seasons end for the teams last regular season road game in Bayonne New Jersey. Third line forward Mike Swanda has stated that Regan has been playing throughout this past summer on a girls team to prepare himself for the upcoming 07-08 season.

This obviously didn't set well with Fossum who didn't want to play another season without wearing his old number of 36. It is unknown what number Regan will wear this year if any at all. The team has had two practice sessions and Regan was a no show for both. The terms of the deal between Regan and Fossum are unknown.
