About the DC POlice HOCKEY FOUNDATION

The DC Police Hockey Foundation was created in July 2006 to provide a nonprofit organization through which the DC Police Hockey team can raise money for hockey and law enforcement-related charitable organizations and community-wide nonprofit initiatives. Team activities are supported by public donations, team merchandise sales, and grants. DCPH is a IRS-designated 501(c)(3) non-profit charity.

The DC Police Hockey team shares our “home ice” at the Fort Dupont Ice Arena with the  Kids On Ice (KOI) program which serves over 10,000 neighborhood children annually through programs related to ice hockey, figure skating, and speed skating. Through our ICEKOPS (Improving Community and Encouraging Kids' Opportunities by Promoting Skating) program, the DC Police Hockey Foundation pledges money to KOI for every home ice goal scored by the DC Police Hockey team, every home win by the team, and every home shutout. For the 2007-2008 season, the donation schedule is as follows: $10.00 donation for every goal scored by the DC Police Hockey team during home games; $50.00 for each home win; and an additional $25.00 if the home win is a shutout. Through this program, every home game raises money for KOI.

The program’s year-end contribution is funded by the DC Police Hockey Foundation’s activities throughout the year, especially merchandise sales and proceeds from silent auctions.

For the 2006-2007 season, the DC Police Hockey Foundation donated $795 to KOI through this program with a matching $795 donation from deca software.
